Introducing: Cervélo

Cervélo is a brand that needs no introduction. The Canadian bicycle company has been consistently present in the Pro peloton for nearly 15 years. But while Cervélo is widely recognized, it is a brand that might be in need of reintroduction. That’s because over the last two years the brand has refocused, undergoing a bit of a renaissance. Cervélo remains committed to principals on which the company was founded in 1995: improving bicycle design through focused application of their founders’ engineering background. But, by reassessing their place in the Pro peloton and shifting their focus to the smaller Dimension Data team, they’ve been been able to combine the highest levels of performance at the sports summit, with impressively priced mid-range bikes featuring sharp, well thought out builds.

At the top end, Cervélo’s R5 and S5 aero road bike are found carrying some of our favorite racers to victories throughout the season. Top end bikes from Cervélo apply the company’s extensive engineering to produce lighter, stronger frames with exceptional aerodynamics and handling. Their recent move to supoort Dimension Data for Qhubeka put the peloton’s most consistently entertaining sprinter, Mark Cavendish, on a Cervélo for his 2016 return to form. A day in yellow at Le Tour, and solid Silver rides at World Championships and the Rio Olympics. The latter came aboard Cervélo’s special Team GB track project, the T5GB edition: a custom collaboration between Cervélo and Team GB to make the best track bike possible for the Rio 2016 events.

Between the Team GB project, Dimension Data, and Women’s World Tour team, Cervélo Bigla, the brand retains a strong presence at cycling’s elite level. Many of our favorite riders in the Pro ranks can be found aboard Cervelos; Edvald Boasson Hagen, Stephen Cummings and Mark Renshaw all compliment Cavendish at Dimension Data. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio and Lotta Lepistö are rising stars in of the Women’s World Tour, piloting Cervelos en route to international renown.

This World Tour involvement ensures that Cervélos’ bikes remain at the sharp end of racing technology. But at the consumer end of things, Cervélo is looking just as good. They come with a lifetime frame/fork warranty, a sign of Cervélo’s confidence that their bikes can withstand a lifetime of racing, not just a short year in the professional ranks. Cervélo remains based out of Canada, despite their more recent international projects like Dimension Data, Team GB, and the ‘California Project’ that led to the ultralight R5CA. Cervélos even ship out of Toronto, making for quick and easy service compared to brands located farther afield.

Cervélos are on the floor now at Broad Street Cycles, and we encourage you to stop by and check the Canadian brand out. R3, R3 disc, R2, and P3’s are already here, with more bikes arriving all the time!
