One of the newer faces you may have noticed around Broad Street Cycles is BMC. A smaller Swiss company, BMC mostly specialize in road bikes, though they also have a strong presence in the mountain bike World Cup circuit. Renny has been putting this beautiful metallic blue Team Machine SLR02 through some serious miles over the last couple cold winter months,so we thought we’d see how it’s holding up.

BMC’s shipped the Team Machine SLR02 with a very strong Shimano 105 build to start with, but Renny’s made a couple changes to make it his own. The big change is the Pacenti SL23 (version 2) rims, laced up by Brad Head to stunning pink White Industries hubs. Fi’zi:k’s Arione VSX saddle is not only comfortable and very sleek looking, it also has an integrated, removable rear light that is perfect for long post-work night rides. That beat up looking set of Look Keo Carbon Blades pedals have seen years of abuse, and stay with Renny no matter what bike he’s riding. Add to that a couple of the new Broad Street water bottles, and and conveniently matching Lezyne pump and Renny’s all set for a solid winter of riding.

The last notable addition Renny’s made to the Team Machine is the new Edge 520 from Garmin. Of course the 520 tracks everything that happens on a ride, including power, heart rate, cadence and all the expected speed and distance. But now it also notifies you when you’re approaching Strava segments, does live segment tracking for your favorite segments, and can even be paired to your phone so you can see whose calls and texts you’re ignoring while you ride your bike.
