Brydon’s Soma Double Cross Crusher

We’re pretty psyched on this no-nonsense Soma Double Cross build.

The Double Cross is regarded by Soma as a swiss army knife-bike. Built out of Tange Prestige steel tubing, it makes a capable touring bike, commuter or CX RACE SHRED SLED.

Here at BSC, we dig cross bikes. Being able to take your ride on gravel roads, single track trail, or buff pavement is a real plus. Additionally, the durability of a tough steel frame gives peace of mind when travelling via ferry, transit, or trail.

The Double Cross has clearance for fat tires & fenders, cantilever brake mounts & a classy matte graphite paint job.

We chose a matching kit from FSA for this build. Not only does it look great in gloss black, but this stuff is high enough quality to give years of use.

The Campagnolo Veloce kit is the standout piece on this bike. When at all possible, we like to get people on Campy. The longevity of the drivetrain, and comprehensive serviceability is unrivaled by either SRAM or Shimano. Additionally, the shape of the shift lever feels better than any of their competitors’.

Lastly, Brydon’s choice in tires wraps up the build. Soma’s C-Line tire is a high-volume 700c tire made by Panaracer for the San Francisco company, and crushes pavement, stair sets and gravel with equal competence.
